Dr Carl Heinz Daube has been Professor of Finance since September 2016 and Vice-Rector for Research at NBS Northern Business School – University of Applied Sciences since October 2019. He teaches and conducts research at the IUCF Institute for Accounting, Controlling and Financial Management. His research focuses on corporate finance, financial markets and capital markets.
Prior to this, Prof. Daube spent over 25 years in various senior management positions in the financial industry, including Head of Institutional Sales, Head of Asset Liability Management and Global Head of Liquidity Management. From 2008 to 2013, he was Managing Director of the German Finance Agency in Frankfurt, which is responsible for debt management and borrowing on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.
At NBS, there is a close connection between science and business. For example, the IUCF holds monthly start-up consultation hours where students can present their business models. The students receive comprehensive feedback on their business ideas from the IUCF professors. Some of the business ideas presented there in recent years have since been successfully implemented.

- Acquisition-related project support for a company in the field of full-service solutions for energy management – from hardware and software to consulting in the area of energy efficiency in the Hamburg metropolitan region
- Support for a student start-up for 100 per cent fair trade certified street wear, from the business plan to the launch of the company and ongoing operations
- Support for a student business idea start-up for the development, production and distribution of non-alcoholic beverages
