Energy and Environmental Management

Today, every company inevitably has to deal with environmental issues. The environmental effects of climate change present entrepreneurs with new challenges, while resource-saving production methods and processes offer the potential to cut costs. However, customers are also placing greater value on suppliers’ sustainable environmental and energy management.

Professor Timo Busch, from the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg, has been researching this multifaceted topic for 15 years. In his research, he uses insights from business management to examine the significance of climate change for companies, eco-efficiency in businesses, and business scenarios for ecological sustainability.

The university professor places great importance on collaborating with industry. He has already collaborated with partners from various sectors on a range of issues.

For instance, he used his expertise to help a medium-sized chemical company introduce a corporate climate change management system. This involved determining the company’s CO₂ emissions, devising and implementing sensible optimisation measures, and developing a strategy for communicating the improved eco-balance.

There are many ways to design practical projects:

  • by assigning final theses to Master’s students
  • as consulting, which may also include the introduction of a newly developed strategy

Professor Busch also offers workshops and lectures at companies as introductory formats.

Als Einstiegsformate bietet Professor Busch ebenfalls Workshops oder Vorträge in Unternehmen an.
